This page is where you will document whether the student is eligible or not eligible for special education services and record the reasons supporting that decision. It provides a clear summary of eligibility status and the factors considered during the evaluation process.
*This page works similarly to the Eligibility Information section in IIEP. In the past, you would click “Create Eligibility” to generate the event. In PSSP, simply clicking “Save, Done Editing” will automatically create the eligibility event for you.
Check the box, Yes or No, if the student is eligible for services.
If you click the box to indicate that they are eligible for services another field box will appear below "Describe the reasons for eligibility or ineligibility determination...". Their eligibility areas should auto populate.
If it is a Reevaluation Review or Initial, you will have to choose the correct areas from the drop-down menu. At an Initial, the School Psychologist or Speech Language Pathologist can update this section.
By clicking this box you are indicating that the Case Conference Committee has determined that the student's disability does not adversely affect their educational performance.
This determination must be made by a School Psychologist and/or SLP.
At an Initial Case Conference or Reevaluation Review, this section is completed by the School Psychologist (or the SLP for speech-only cases). This box will contain test scores and the evaluation process used to determine the student's eligibility or ineligibility. Once it has been completed, there is no need to update unless a new evaluation has been completed.
In certain situations, you may need to enter or edit the eligibility statement yourself.
For Move-In Conferences, use the eligibility statement from the out-of-district IEP.
If no statement is available, use the following:
“The case conference committee has determined that the student’s disability adversely affects the student’s educational performance.”
*Be sure to include the student’s name and their specific eligibility category(ies) in this section. The statement should be student-specific and avoid vague or generic language to clearly reflect the individual needs of the student.
Once you select that the student was not eligible for services click, "Save, Done Editing" if you are done with the section. Hover over "Student Information or Cover Page" and on the fly-out menu you will notice all other options disappear and the "Notice of Ineligibility/ Termination of Eligibility" will appear.
